A Prosperous 2008 is Predicted for Affiliate Marketers!

If I had a real crystal ball and could see into the year ahead I might be surprised by what’s in store for Affiliate Marketers in 2008. However, since my crystal ball hasn’t worked in some time, I’ll have to rely on what I’ve read and surmised as I spent the last year in the Affiliate Marketing area. Here are a few things I see coming up for future affiliate marketers:

Merchants are becoming more aware of the importance in having a dedicated Affiliate Manager to help affiliates market their products successfully. This is a GREAT plus for those who do affiliate marketing part-time, are just beginners, and even for seasoned Affiliate Marketers!

A dedicated Affiliate Manager means that there will be someone to turn to for help. And, this will be a person who has a very high interest in your success (not just another guru giving the same old advice). Don’t be afraid to contact these managers and ask for help. They can save you a lot of trial and error by telling you what products work best, as well as what keywords you should concentrate on.

I tested out a few Affiliate Managers while running Holiday promotions and I’m sure I made twice as much with their help as I would have stumbling around in the dark by myself trying to figure out which product to market first.

A LOT more social network-type sites will be popping up.

Here you will have to be careful and not just chase the next new thing. Having a page on a site like Squidoo or Facebook is great, but remember that you have to treat it just like any other web-site. In order to get people to visit your page, you will need to market, update content on a regular basis, get back-links, and do everything else that you would do to market a web site. If you have a few sites running on social networking sites now, concentrate on building them up with content, instead of starting over on a new site.

One of the things that I hope happens is that Google gets some really good competition and is forced to become more realistic when deciding who to “slap!” Most of the time I can understand why they do the things they do, but then again, sometimes it doesn’t make sense. They need to figure out that if they keep stepping on the people that are making them so successful, those people will go elsewhere! I am currently testing a few others (MSN and Yahoo!) and am finding that I’m getting about the same click-through results – BUT with lower bid prices, AND a better conversion rate! I’ll keep you posted on the test results as time goes on.

So, you can see, you don’t really need a crystal ball to figure out what’s coming up in the first half of the year. As always though, keep an eye out for changes, as there will definitely be a lot of them in the months ahead. And, keep reading this blog and I’ll keep you informed as best as I can. In fact, subscribe to our RSS feed now so you will always know the topic of the day!

I  hope everyone has a Very Prosperous New Year!
