Easy ways to Get Traffic to Your Blog
Every time I read a story about how a person put up a blog and became immediately rich it makes me a little mad. If it were really that easy, everyone would be doing it!
The blogging part is the easy part, getting traffic is a little more difficult. And, as you well know, without traffic you are just writing to thin air, and making no money. But there are a few easy things you can do to make sure that “they” visit after your blog is built:
Blog often: Twice a week should be your minimum target, if you have a great niche affiliate market that you are targeting, you might want to blog once a day in the beginning to get your site indexed by the search engines.
Read other people’s blogs, make comments, and more:  While you’re reading your blogs and forums for the day, remember to make comments and give helpful advice. Notice I said “helpful” advice. Only spammers post remarks like “good post,” or “I’ll give that a try.” If you want the blog owner to actually accept your post, add something of value to your comment.Â
Don’t JUST comment on posts. It’s good practice to link to a good post on someone’s blog by posting a link to their blog on your blog (whew, say that three times fast!). When you do this, they get a Trackback notice that you have linked in. If you do this a few times, adding value each time, eventually the other blogger will link back to your site. Then, you should start seeing more traffic.
Try to link to blogs that are complementary to your affiliate marketing niche. You will have better luck this way than trying to link to blogs that are in direct competition to yours. For example, if you have a blog in the dating niche, it might not work out to well to contact others in the same niche; you might be better off visiting a travel niche and finding some posts on “Romantic Getaways” to link to.Â
Make sure there is a way for visitors to subscribe to your blog: People don’t always bookmark blogs anymore, and if they do, they may still never get back to them. So make it as easy as possible for them to get your information. Have a Newsletter Subscription area, or a Feedburner subscription option.
And, always have your RSS button displaying on your site. Many people will put your RSS link into their Yahoo! Membership area and read from there. You want to make sure it’s easy for them to find this important link.
Take some time to really think about what you want to accomplish with your blogging. Most blogs in the affiliate marketing industry are put up to make money, but be careful with this also. If you spam your own blog with a lot of blinking banners and affiliate links, people will tire of reading it soon.Â
I’m not saying that banners and affiliate links are a bad thing - just use them efficiently and not in an over-powering way.Â
You want to be noted as an expert in your field; and your main goal should always be to get visitors to sign up for your newsletter, and make them want to come back and learn from you.
