Free RSS Feeds?

I was doing some keyword research the other day and I noticed that a lot of people search on the keyword “Free RSS Feeds.” Now, I’m a little more than a newbie to the affiliate marketing business, but I didn’t know there was anything but a free RSS feed.

Why would you need to pay for an RSS Feed? If you use blogging software, such as Wordpress, the feed is usually just – there! And if it isn’t there, you can get a free SEO plugin that will put the RSS feed icon on your site for all to subscribe to.

I’ve got all kinds of plugins on my blog and most of the SEO pluggins I’ve seen include a free RSS Feed subscription button.

That’s why I was surprised when I went to set up a Feedburner account (which is also a free rss feed option) – for even MORE Free RSS Feed exposure!

I went through the motion of filling in the blanks, getting the feed address from my blog etc. Then, when I went to “burn” the feed, Feedburner told me they couldn’t find it!

WHAT! I’ve been diligently making weekly informative blog posts. I have also been pondering the question of why I wasn’t getting listed on some of the sites that pull information automatically by keyword.

Now I know (I think). It’s quite apparent that the Wordpress template I picked had something out of whack in the free RSS feed area.

So, I spent the weekend changing my template. Hoping that against all odds, the new template I had chosen would have an RSS Feed that was identifiable by Feedburner. There is really no way to tell until you test it, but if Feedburner can’t find you – probably no one else can either!

I have finally achieved success in this area, and have been accepted by Feedburner. Now when you click on the free RSS feed button at the top right of this blog, you can easily subscribe to my feed - and find me again later.

You might want to do that. It’s always better for someone else to find a problem and tell you about it, then for you to be kept in the dark as you post and post and post and post. . . .

You might also want to sign up for a Feedburner account and see if your free RSS feed is readable by humans – and search engine software.
