Zero Friction Marketing Research Made Easy
We are all feeling the pinches of the recession on our finances. That’s why the idea of making money online is getting more attractive. One of the first things many people hear about when they look to make part-time extra money is affiliate marketing. Unfortunately, there is so much information out there it overwhelms most people at first, but the basic concept is fairly simple.
You are simply marketing a product for a merchant! Well, maybe it’s really not so simple, but you’ll soon find out that market research is the best affiliate marketing step in the process; and proper research is what brings in profits!
If you follow the zero friction marketing method, the first step is to research the markets YOU are interested in. In fact, you should also research niches that you have purchased from in the past.
What you’re doing in this step is finding out what visitors are looking for. This is also the essence of “keyword research” taught in the zero friction marketing method – finding the actual words or phrases people type into search engines to find answers to their problems. DO NOT SKIP this step! If you do not do your research, you will go through much more trial and error before you start making money.
By finding and using keywords that consumers are actively entering into the search engines, you will be able to help your websites and landing pages rank higher, generating a nonstop flood of organic (aka free!), targeted traffic.
Keyword research is not really a difficult task. Here is the process you should go through for each affiliate niche you want to investigate:
Start with the Google Keyword Tool, which can be found by searching for “Google keyword tool external,” and enter in a keyword or phrase that identifies the product or niche that you are interested in promoting as an affiliate.
Click on “get keyword ideas” to generate a list of keywords. Then gauge the competitiveness of the market by looking at the number of times people are searching for your main keywords per month.
Find a market with existing demand that also has existing competition and products readily available, but not so competitive that ranking highly is next to impossible.
The most important thing when doing affiliate marketing research is find a product that has interested buyers for your chosen niche product. Since you are doing affiliate marketing, your costs for entering a market are not very high, but it’s still a good idea to take time in the beginning to do niche research to avoid wasting your time with products that nobody wants.
